best of sxsw 2011: dillon francis
Dillon Francis is an upcoming producer and dj from Los Angeles who is signed to Diplo’s Mad Decent label. I took this picture of him at the Burlesque showcase at Loft 718, which also featured Telephoned!, Bird Peterson, Prince Klassen and others. The crowd packed in as Dillon stepped in to close out the night, and the result was a moombahton party like Austin had never seen before. If you are not sure what moombahton is then read this and then this. It’s basically uptempo dubstep for girls, which means it own the club scene right now. Dillon is one of the genre’s most important contributors, along with Dave Nada, Munchi and Dave Heartbreak. Check out some of his best moombahton work.

Dillon is also an accomplished dubstep producer. This guy is clearly super talented and I expect him to raise his profile quickly a la Rusko, perhaps even to a greater degree. Keep your eyes peeled for this fella to blow up in the next few years. Here are some of his best dubstep tracks.
